HyCD Play&Record FAQ

Question:  What is the difference between VBR and CBR MP3 Encoding?
Answer:
The CBR encoding process varies the quality of the MP3 being encoded in order to produce a constant bit rate, VBR encoding varies the bit rate to ensure consistent quality. This means the bit rate (kilobits per second) of a CBR-encoded MP3 remains constant throughout the
song-even if the song needs more or less bits at different points. The idea behind VBR, however, is that songs don't always need 128 Kbps to sound like CDs, and sometimes they need more than that.

Question: How do I encode WAV files to MP3?
Answer:
If the source is a Music CD you can configure HyCD Play&Record to save the tracks as MP3 files when copying to your hard drive.  To do this, double-click on the HyCD system tray icon and under "Extract Audio to hard disk as:", select "MP3".
Or, if the WAV files are already on your hard drive, use HyCD Encoder to translate the files.
