Properly attaching SCSI terminators is the most fundamental and important item to consider while setting up your workstation for CD
Mastering. Below, please find examples of typical SCSI situations and what method of termination is indicated.
SCSI Situation #1: Attaching ONLY internal SCSI Devices:
Connect all devices, in order, along one SCSI cable or "bus", and terminate the last
device by a jumper on that device. On most SCSI Host Adapters there is an external port for a second, external SCSI cable, or "bus". On newer adapters this will automatically terminate, however on older models manual termination may be required.
SCSI Situation #2: Attaching ONLY external SCSI Devices:
After connecting all drives with external SCSI cables, you must terminate the last device the chain and the others must have an input and
output SCSI cable. On most SCSI Adapters you can only have 7 external devices. Some older adapters will also require termination on there internal chain if no internal devices are present.
SCSI Situation #3: Attach BOTH internal and external SCSI Devices:
After setting all devices to either internal or external cables, the last internal and external device must be terminated either by jumper
(internal), or by SCSI terminator device (External). Please Note! All SCSI devices must have unique ID's or there will be conflicts.
